Hello guys,
I downloaded this game over satelite because I am still in Iraq and bored while off duty. I am having a problem with the game, all the numbers are coming up jibberish. The letters are fine, but the numbers are ###### and sometimes blurred crud. Just trying to see if anyone else has seen this or do I have a corrupted download?
Any help appreciated.

Have you tried to use a different DOS emulator?
I used windows/total commander on laptop - didn't work, and the same program on desk top - it works
Some people here use DOS box, although I don't like it - the screen is microscopic in comparison to Total Commander.

dosbox with the D-FEND front end (download seperatly) is unbeatable! you have to mess with it for a bit to get the hang of it, but once you get it it makes using most DOS games a breeze to get going! it's windows based so it's just a matter of playing with it to get your preferred configs, but if you have any questions i can try to help you out on this forum.

Flanker Leader,
Thanks for the advice. I am deployed in Iraq, so have very limited access to internet. Any way you can give me links to the Dosbox emulator and the D-fend front end? It would be much appreciated.

p.s. I am not the most literate computer guy, so I am hoping these will be very easy to install and use.

http://dosbox.sourceforge.net/download. ... 83e2444d38
both programs are on this site. get the
windows version of dosbox first, then get D-Fend just below it. you may want to copy this text so you can access it without the net if you have any problems later!
once you get d-fend installed double click on the d-fend ikon on your desktop or in your start menu. you will never use dosbox after installing it so you can delete any desktop ikons it creates - d-fend will use dosbox for you!
once yer in click on
profile, then select
add with wizard. type in the game name for the
profile, i suggest clicking on
close dosbox on exit, then browse for the
game exe (wherever you put WiR)
next screen you can leave alone -
3000 cycles is slow, so you can put it up to 10000 if you want, but i suggest not more.
for the next screen auto-create the
folder/image
skip through all the rest, and you'r almost ready to rock!
now you will see that profile name in d-fend. right-click on it, select
edit profile, select the
general tab, and click select
start full screen and
auto-lock mouse.
next select the
priority tab, and put both on
lowest priority. WiR is an old game so your computer can easily handle it with very few cpu cycles anyways, and dosbox sometimes hogs the CPU when you might want to listen to music at the same time or something!
click ok at the bottom and yer done! you can now right click on the profile name again and make a shortcut to start the game on the desktop, if you like.
if you want to get in and out of full screen while yer playing simply press
alt-enter

Hi 2nd -
I run this game on my Toshiba at work. Sometimes I have to start it 3 or 4 times before it does not display the gibberish you've described. My laptop runs an AMD 6-2 processor and that's what I attribute this to. It will eventually run right (on mine) but it takes patience.
