A funny thing happened in the war today, dear

That nasty bugger Fersen caused an insurrection in the French protectorate of Batavia. Bye-bye Dutchmen!

Game setup: 1796 scenario, 23 years, highest glory, difficulty normal.
Countries set at: Britain-normal, France+2, Prussia-normal, Russia-normal, Austria-normal, Turkey-1, Sweden-3, Spain-3...yes, this is how I see the world[;)]

Anyway, not being at war with anyone but Britain, we Prussians decided we'd take Freisland and then leave the rest of the republic to the Nederlanders.

Of course, we met the Dutch Army in the open and thrashed it resoundingly. Then began the seige of Gottingen.

The remainder of the Dutch army marched into Kleves, where I suspected they'd beseige that part of my Bavarian Protectorate. I didn't have an army to spare because Austria began a war with me immediately upon Bavaria requesting our protection.

...A little history: Bavaria, despite close economic ties to Prussia chose Spain (who was at war with Austria) to protect her. Since my diplomats were handy in Hesse, I sent them to Munich to Persuade King Ludwig I to change his mind. This happened after half a year.

I then switched my diplomatic corps orders to "coup". Next turn, Bavaria made the right decision requesting Prussian protection. I didn't get the Bavarian Army...it seems that 6 months was all that was required for it to be squandered by the dons. The only reason I can see this war with Austria is because Bavarian/Prussian POW's were now on her soil. I didn't notice a return of any after we got the Austrians to surrender.

...anyway, back to the Dutch...and the funny thing.

After Gottingen surrendered, the entirety of the republic went Prussian purple. No seige of Amsterdam required. Had the Dutch simply given up? No nation became their protector. I had an alliance with France and Spain...maybe that kept them from accepting the Dutch into their spheres of influence.

Anyway, other events: it's 1803 now. I've just become the BadBoy. I was trailing Russia, and after destroying the English navy...yes, in 7 years Prussia was able to build almost two fleets of heavy ships and trounce the Brits...I find myself at the forefront.

I'm thinking glory obtained from NML and culture shouldn't count. It's too easy to get the points without much warring. At this stage, all of my Barracks and culture are at 4/4 except for 2 that are 5/5. Some protectorates are also at 5/5.

I've fought Britain through a 5 year long war, and Austria though one 6-month campaign.

I didn't take any provinces from Austria. I have Bavaria, Saxony, and Wurttemburg as protectorates. Hanover came early in my war with Britain. I kept Freisland and ceded Holland to France.

Another thing on ceded provinces: FRance and Russia have both gotten that province directly northeast of Constantinople as parts of their nations. Can't get much more inland than that.

Another thing...conquered provinces...the ones we actually start with. East Prussia had been Prussian for a very long time. I don't see how Fersen could get it to do anything rebellious. ...I'm forever chasing Fersen outta my country!

The country Batavia has its capital in Groningen. When the capital of a multi-province minor is captured, then all the provinces of that minor are captured. (If they are occupied by a country, then they are captured by that country; otherwise they are captured by the nation that occupies the capital.)

Ah, I failed to get my message across. Simply wanted to share about the capital of Batavian Republic - the Hague, in which place the game uses Groningen.
