This is likely something that I am missing in the manual, but I have a question. What does the asterisk denote in the Team Rotation window? I notice some pitchers have them, most others don't.

I didn't know that pitchers' political beliefs were factored into the game.

That's what I initially thought as well. But no, both righties and lefties are asterisked. It seems as though most teams only have one pitcher asterisked, some teams have none.

If that is the case, then there must be a bug in the system, as my #1 is slated to pitch the next game and the TEAM ROTATION screen shows and asterisk is on my #3 starter. What I do think is the case, is that on the GAME DAY screen, which lists the scheduled games and starters, the asterisk does denote lefty starters.

No big deal, I was just wondering.

I remember there used to be a bug about that if you switched to a four-man rotation; I believe that bug was fixed several versions ago.

I had also heard reported a bug about that in the case where you have a double-header; I don't know the status of that bug.

It could be a bug if you force-skipped a spot, manually changing your 'next starter' - that interface was added later on, though I'd swear I tested the Team Rotation screen against that functionality and it worked. I could also imagine a bug if you change the size of your rotation midway through the season.

Shaun, given that this is a frequent question, could we change the overloading of the meaning of 'asterisk'? One seems fine, but having two different asterisks without a 'key' is clearly confusing to people. Maybe (L) on the game day screen, or (St) on the team rotation screen, or possibly a graphic, if there's space.

Jliven61, can you post (in more detail) over in the 'support' forum exactly what scenario you see the incorrect starter on the Team Rotation screen?

For Shaun to repro, you'll need to post:
- association configuration (#teams, #leagues, #divisions)
- schedule used (default for that association, or retrosheet for a given year?)
- rotation size used
- the association's current date on the day you observe the problem
- whether you've ever changed who your starting pitcher was manually (e.g., forced skipping a spot, etc.)
- whether you have any of your pitchers set to 'skip' his start occasionally
- whether you changed rotation size mid-season
- anything else you can observe: e.g., if there are any schedule irregularities around the date (double-header, off-days, All-Star break, etc), if its wrong for any of the computer teams, etc.

I've noticed that the guy directly "before" the asterisk guy is today's starter. The asterick guy is the next day starter. It appears to be a long time bug.
