Just curious, does this mean HPS will discontinue or stop selling their line of American Civil War and Napoleonic games?

I am not in "the know" but I can't imagine Tiller and HPS shutting down thier current line because some old games get reissued.

I don't understand - why would it mean that? Do Pepsi stop selling cola because Coke has relaunched classic Coke? (No - they inrease production![;)])

Hi Lew no. In fact the HPS Civil War series has almost doubled this year alone!
The HPS titles are totally different games with non-phased play, fast AI, on-map combat results, campaign play, huge maps, better 2d graphics, different rules - all the "newer" bells and whistles. You just can't compare HPS Gettysburg or Waterloo to their BG siblings owing to their enormous spread.
The BG series will offer the better (imo) 3d art that Talonsoft refused to let HPS use. That's about it. But when it came to Prelude to Waterloo I unfortunately found its art size so tiny I couldn't play it.
AFAIK John's involvement with the Matrix BG series is to get it running on XP.
Adam.

Adam,
Thanks, I own Franklin and have ordered Gettysburg. Yes, there are many improvements, especially non phased turns but the heart of the system is the same. I was just wondering about any copyright issues. I understand they are not a problem.
If Matrix does not substancially improve the system, I see no reason to purchase the reissued games. Besides, I can play my old ones on XP. I have always supported Matrix, but there is a limit.

Making better Artificial Intelligence for this game would attract me because I play a purely against the computer. Yes, I wonder what Matrix could possibly have planned for GETTYSBURG and others in this series.?
