Hello,

I have just purchased a boxed edition of the game from EB here in Australia (complete with a printed manual). I have tried to install the latest Beta patch 1.071 and the patch installer claims that my serial number is invalid.

The game installed fine and I was able to register the game in the members area. The serial number is a sticker on the back of the manual and is in the form of XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX. The game installs as version 1.040 from the CD.

Any help would be appreciated.

Unfortunately I cannot help you with that.

I just checked - the patch works for me - so there has to be some difference between the serial number I have and yours. Maybe some batch of numbers that somehow didnt get added to the verification list in 1.071. Most peculiar.

So does that mean there is nothing I can do, or does it mean that my serial number will be added to the patch so I can use it?

I fully concur that your serial number has to work.

I am not an employee of Matrixgames or 2by3 though - I am just a player like yourself. The reason I am moderator on the forums is because I help manage testing and I set up the ladder. I am sorry I didnt make that clear in my first reply.

I am not entirely sure who can help you. It would probably be between Joel Billings (2by3), Erik Rutins (Matrixgames) and David Heath (Matrixgames) though.

You can try to PM those 3 or sending an email to 2by@2by3games.com. Most likely Joel will read your post here though regardless.

If you dont get any official response within a few days please shoot me another PM.

Please email support@matrixgames.com and let them know of your problem. Obviously your serial number should work, so someone at Matrix needs to look into the problem. You should let them know what your serial number is in your email. Sorry for the problem and hopefully it's something simple that can be corrected quickly.

Hi Guys,

Just as an update, I have emailed Erik and Support regarding the problem. Support indicated that the Australian serial numbers (or some of them) may have been left out of the verification database.

I am still waiting for a fix though.

Same problem here with the french-released copy I have just bought. Thus, I guess I'll have to wait just like you ...

Anyway, 1.040 seems already quite playable.

I plan to post a new version today that includes the international serial numbers. My apologies for leaving them out by accident - I simply missed them when I created the beta installer as the international release hadn't happened yet. Stay tuned here for more info.
