Questions about: Bocage, walls, hedge and onboard mortar spotters

1. Units adjacent to bocage hex are always spotted, Why? (Can't make it make sense in my mind)

2. Why does a unit behind bocage (always spotted) have to pay a penalty to fire from behind terrain? (Just want it to make sense to me)

3. Is a unit adjacent to a wall or hedge always spotted, like the bocage rule?

4. Can a unit surronded by hedge but not adjacent to hedge get the =2 rally bonus?

5. Does moving behind bocage negate movement modifier?

6. Does a leader spotting for an onboard mortar have to be adjacent to the firing mortar?
* 50mm mortar probably would not be in radio contact with a remote leader*

Thanks
John

1. Units adjacent to bocage hex are always spotted, Why? (Can't make it make sense in my mind)

They are not always spotted, depedning on the terrain of the hex behind the bocage hexside. As for why...designer's decision.
2. Why does a unit behind bocage (always spotted) have to pay a penalty to fire from behind terrain? (Just want it to make sense to me)

I don't know.
3. Is a unit adjacent to a wall or hedge always spotted, like the bocage rule?

Yes.
4. Can a unit surronded by hedge but not adjacent to hedge get the =2 rally bonus?

AFAICT, you never receive a rallying bonus for hedge.
5. Does moving behind bocage negate movement modifier?

No.
6. Does a leader spotting for an onboard mortar have to be adjacent to the firing mortar?
* 50mm mortar probably would not be in radio contact with a remote leader*

No

It is unintuitive, and confused me at first. If I understand Mark on this, hex-side terrain is handled this way in order to keep the gameplay clean and simple, and not have players combining terrain modifiers. In the scheme of things, it doesn't have a very big effect on combat.
