game playing time and a few other questions?

I just saw this game. It sounds just like an era I was looking for. However, I have three questions. They might have been answered in the FAQs but I could of missed them.

1. I read that the AI is set to go after only certain objectives. Does this mean that if I don't play into the AI hand that you can easily beat the AI?

2. This is a very long game. If you played it at 7 days per turn, do you think you would loose a lot of the details or would the game really play the same?

I figured that you played it at 7 days per turn it would take about 104 hours to compete or around 182 hours if you played around 4 days per turn. Assuming 15 min. per turn.

3. Will you have resources and production to manage as well?

thanks.

I just saw this game. It sounds just like an era I was looking for. However, I have three questions. They might have been answered in the FAQs but I could of missed them.

You will be able to exploit the AI'S hand.
I would strongly suggest playing PBEM games as this
will challenge your strategic abilities to there limits.

2. This is a very long game. If you played it at 7 days per turn, do you think you would loose a lot of the details or would the game really play the same?

I only play 1 and 2 day turns as any other amount of turns would cost
you a lot strategicly and your reaction times would be nill,
fatuige factors on squadrons would be very detrimental also.
too many issues to point out that would cause negative results.

I figured that you played it at 7 days per turn it would take about 104 hours to compete or around 182 hours if you played around 4 days per turn. Assuming 15 min. per turn.

You can put in a lot of turns once the game gets rolling even playing
against a PBEM apponant, this is a game that once you start playing you
probably will become hooked indefinately and the turn factors go away
as you are more into trying to counter your apponants moves and plan your
own moves for weeks on end...
Most players buying this game will have started out with Uncomman Valor,
then it,s big brother War In The Pacific, I personaly started UV in 2002
and played it for almost 3 years, now I have over A year in WITP and
forsee myself playing it for at least 5 years. ( it's that good )
Best series of games you will ever buy.

3. Will you have resources and production to manage as well?
yes

thanks.

Just to note on the AI, the way it is now (or rather in the next patch), if you attack its bases it will move to intercept you. But in general the AI follows what was predicted in War PLan Orange, in that it will attempt to to take the Philippines, Wake, Midway, and Pearl Harbor. Now, you can "exploit" the AI by avoiding these bases, but given fuel constraints of the ships of the time, You'll need to take them. And that right there will take the bulk of the game.

Also with WPO, the only things you must manage is supply and fuel. Resources and Production are NOT activate by default in WPO.
