1.795 Beta Problems

Hi Erik,
I've run into a problem with the 1.795 Beta in an existing AI game, begun under v1.60 and updated with various Betas since (not the troublesome one - I luckily skipped that), playing as Allies.
One of my a/c groups has become corrupted by losing it's name. In the a/c display at the base (Pearl Harbor), the name field is blank and hence unclickable. Upon Accessing it by getting into another unit and clicking 'Next A/C' (or whatever the button is called), the display looks normal except for the unit name display at the top. It has the 4 digit number followed by a dash, then blank (instead of the name).
This happened during my first session with 1.795 Beta. I do not have a 'before save'. I save 3 days worth, but didn't notice the problem until too late.
Do you want a current save game?

Your thread sez "problems".
Here is mine.
In an existing game, some of my P 36 units in North Pacific command will not accept new pilots, even in a base with suppply, and the pilot pool is "loaded"..........
This is not happening anywhere else whatsoever....
I play CHS against the ai, have never had this problem before.

I've noticed a large number of my IJN leaders have disappeard and been replaced by staff officers. This was in a PBEM game started under 1.77. My opponent also reported that the game would no longer accept his password.
I do have a save from two days before this happened, but I can't remeber if the save is before or after switching to the new version.
Edit: The password problem was due to user error by me. I forgot to hit the end turn button before saving and sending the file to my opponent.

The last change (1.795) made was to clear out "dead" leaders from the game before the leader table becomes full.
If that "dead" leader is shared by another unit, that unit will end up with a "WO/Staff Officer" until a new leader is assigned.
When you ugraded to this version, the load save function would have purged the leaders.

This problem appeared four or five days into a Scenario 113 game, and the IJN lost large number of leaders. Very little combat had occurred to that point of the scenario. About two-thirds of the units at Truk were leaderless, including Combined Fleet Headquarters.

Send me the before save and I will attempt to determine what's what.

Yes. A whole block of your leader file has been cleared.
I don't think it is the culling of dead leaders which occurs on load save, as the leaders are there when I loaded the save.
They only vanished after I executed the turn.
So much for my assurance of no more leader problems.[:o]
Well at least from the original leader bug.[:'(]

Hi
sorry missed your post.
Is that even if using the "Get pilot" button?
Do you want to post a screen dump of the air group information screen?

Yes, it is specifically because I tried to use the "get pilot" button. (I hit it maybe 20 times, on different P 36 units, and it seems to have only affected those P 36 units which arrive as "replacements", in the North Pacific command only !!).
I looked at one of the units a few days later and it had acquired "1" pilot. !
Please note, the points where they arived were in great supply and had HQ units there as well.........
I think you know I have played WITP as long as it has been out, so I should know this as a strange and unique situation ??[;)]

If we wanted to go back to the most stable patch, which one should we go back to? 1.795 ate half my leaders; I know I can't get them back, but I don't want to lose anymore.

And this is the game which when I asked about was told that is was stable and playable and no major bugs? Maybe a few more patches are in order yet. I think I will keep my money in my pocketbook.

No way to resolve the issue. It just "happens" and I haven't figured out if an old unit just lost its name or a new unit I cannot access got created.

The game is playable. The impact of the bugs are more annoying than anything, but they have no influence of who's winning and how.

WLockard,
You do realize you are reading a beta patch forum, right?
Everyone,
We're looking into these reports, I expect we'll have some progress on this after the weekend.
Regards,
- Erik

Do you have an older save to go back to or is the only save you have now the one with the missing leaders?
Regards,
- Erik

Bascially true, though the players who basically ignore leaders won't even claim it a nussaince and the ones who spend the time and PP's to (micro)manage leaders to maximize their results will claim it to be a near game breaker.

Erik I have a save with eaten leaders too
if you want a save I can send it to you
is it possible to repair leader database ?
i did not have combat losses by now among naval leaders and second half is a much better one
without it my current PBEM will be in desperate situation
it is impossible for me to move back to clear save as it was probable many turns ago [:(][:(][:(]
