TCP/IP this Saturday/SUnday

Hey guys and gals,
Garoco and I already have a game scheduled for saturday afternoon (western hemisphere)/ sunday morning(Eastern Hemisphere). We'd like to get more players, however.
We'd like to start at around 1900 hrs GMT (correct me if I have our times confused Garoco) and play for 5 hours at least. That time would make it after-noonish USA eastern or 5am here in Australia.
We're using version 1.2.14. We'll play either 1792 or 1796 scenario depending on the wishes of the crowd, with length and victory conditions also settled thus. Dial-up users are welcome so long as they're willing to turn off their firewalls. All battles will be done in quick battle.

If you're interested, leave a note here. We'll be waiting in the Matrix forum for fifteen minutes past our advertised startup time for those who want to join. If you're not certain you have Java, please go to the Matrix forum beforehand to ensure that you'll be able to meet us there.

If you're curious about how long a turn takes, most seem to take about 15 minutes (with 2 players, one of which is on dialup)...which is good if you want to drop out for a quick smoke.

I look forward to meeting some new friends/enemies on the battlefield.

Would love to join you all, but the time is bad. With wife and three kids, mid to late afternoon in Texas is not good timing. If it was later in my evening I would have better opportunity to join. Being worlds apart though may just make it impossible.

I won't be able to make your 1900 GMT game, but if anyone's looking for a game about 5-7 hours later, I'd sure like to test out TCP/IP.

GrandArmee, "bump"? Is that a speed bump or did you just make some road kill.

TexHorns, I'll let you know tomorrow, but a late evening game sounds great to me - just have to clear it with the boss of my household.

Exactly why I wait until after the kids are in bed and my wife is dosing off on the couch.[>:]

My bumps are just to keep this topic so it can be found. If I'm able after Garoco and I (and others?) finish, I'll look for you and we can try to have a game. Depends on my family obligations.

Hey Krec,
We'd be glad to have you join us. We start at about 8pm central time so that is probably 6pm your saturday evening. I look forward to seeing you. We'll meet at the matrix chat before we start.

is the online play working with more than 2 players? I heard that with more than two there is bad lag and multiple crashes.

This past Saturday we had three players and certainly some difficulties. Possibly connected to this were some ISP problems in the neighborhood of one of our players, and a local power outtage in mine. Since it was only our first multiplayer game, it's hard to draw any conclusions.

With two people, it's nowhere near as fast as playing the AI. I suspect some of it may be due to the fact that I'm still trudging along on dialup.

We'll know more this weekend.

Hello once again my potential allies and enemies,
Version 1.2.16 has been released, and I think we owe it to ourselves to give this latest build a good online test. I'm a bit tired this evening, but was spent a few minutes sailing my fleet into an Ally's port successfully. The brain cells that remain firing at this time can't remember what else I might want to test so I'll hit it again in the wee hours of the morning after my first smoke and caffeine replenishment.
