German Orders: Herr Hauptman, 3rd Company of the 1st Regt of the SS Polizi Division is expecting a heavy attack this morning. Take your two operational Tigers and help them hold their positions. If you don't hold, our whole position along the Leningrad Front may become untenable. No Artillery is available, but you will have mortars in support.*
*
Soviet Orders: Comrade Colonel, Drive the Fascists out of their positions. They hold the only high ground in the area and are sitting astride one of the roads to our comrades surrounded in Leningrad. We must break through and relieve our comrades in Leningrad. If you cannot take the position do not come back. You will have a battalion of artillery in support as well as mortars. The small river in front of you is shallow so you should be able to cross it anywhere.*
*
Designer Notes: This scenario is based on incidents that occurred during the Seige of Leningrad. After their initial deployment on the Leningrad Front, the Tigers of the 502d Schwere Panzer Abteilung formed a fire brigade that moved from threatened sector to threatened sector. Often times, the Tigers were the only thing that stopped Soviets. For further reading: Sledgehammers by Christopher Wilbeck and Tigers in Combat I by Wolfgang Schnieder.*

Hvy Pz 502 ... wasn't that the unit Hans Bolter was in?

Sounds like a good one. I'll go find and download it this weekend.

I enjoy scenario's that have units with heroes like Bolter, Knispel, Wittmann (of course), and many others.

The problem with your heroes is that none of them are either British, American or any of the other allies.

Agreed. The allies did have a few. I'm reminded of Sgt Lafayette Pool, who in his four month career, had three tanks shot out from under him and was responsible for the destruction of over 200 German vehicles, a significant number of them being tanks, SP guns and APCs.

Three good books by George Forty highlight some lesser known allied heroes:

Tank Aces
Tank Commanders
Tank Action

There are some good scenarios showing German tank aces in action, including Wittmann, Bolter, and others.

Well, lately that's the subject of my military history study.

Look here:

There's posts on this forum that have some good lists of tank aces from countries other than Germany.

Sorry if that was offensive to you. I'm a US citizen but I think during WWII the German armored forces were the cream of the crop ... better equipment, better training ...

oh well

That was an interesting link, Hank!

Soviet aces with 7 destroyed Tigers. Not bad huh?

Since we're on the subject of tank aces can anyone shed light on US and British tank killers?

I have a book "into the reich" which talks a little about Creighton Abrams who had a fairly high kill record but the book said he or his crew did not document well.

Also, the link I provided above has some good lists for Russian and Germans tank aces. ... and in my opinion Kurt Knispel was the man. Wittmann had an ace in his tank during the vast majority if his service ... Bobby Woll ... his gunner (who also got a knights cross) ... and I'm not taking anything away from him but without a great gunner, you were doomed. Knispel was a gunner most his career but never got any significant praise except from his fellow tankers.

I cut and pasted those lists from my link above for russian and german tank aces. Its quite an impressive list. Wish I had one for the western allies.
