Which MWiF counter is named after a pilot?
Easy this one.
The Rudel.
Hans-Ulrich Rudel flew Ju87G-2 planes equipped with a pair of deadly high caliber cannons (don't remember the caliber here at work without my computer at hand), and he destroyed literaly
hundreds of Soviet armor with these :
- 518+ Tanks
- 700 Trucks
- 150+ Flak and Artillery positions
- 9 Fighter/Ground Attack Aircraft
- Hundreds of bridges, railway lines, bunkers, etc.
- Battleship October Revolution, Cruiser Marat, and 70 landing craft
He also bailed numerous times out of his destroyed aircraft. He finished his carrer flying Fw190D Dora fighter bombers IIRC.
This top scorer got his counter in WiF because of his extreme effectiveness at destroying armor, but there never was any German unit named after his name.
Cheers !
Patrice
