Res Problem

I recently increased the desktop resolution on my laptop to match the native res of the monitor. Now CoG has a problem with the windows and fonts screwed up. So if I want to play, I have to change the res back and forth which is a real pain.

I'd like to suggest you folks do one of two things. Either fix the game so the whole thing runs properly at 1024x768 regardless of desktop resolution. Or change it so it runs at the desktop resolution like a normal windows program.

Nowadays, lots of people run higher resolutions and a change would benefit many.

The resolution isn't the problem, I think, because we use DirectX to change the resolution to 1024x768. What you're describing seems to be a problem we had with Windows' DPI settings. If you go into Control Panel | Display | Display Properties | Advanced | General:Display there's a place to change Windows' DPI settings. Settings away from "normal" cause problems with COG.

If anyone knows a way to get Windows applications to ignore the system's DPI settings, I'd dearly love to know it. I haven't been able to find any way to do this in the MSFT documentation.

You're right. I had fonts up 15% to be able to see them more clearly. I've noticed since I made this post that other games are affected. Anyway, due to these problems, I changed everything back to 1024x768. What I really need is a new computer with a 19" monitor and I've been making hints. Maybe next year.[:'(]
