North American A-36 Apache.
A-36A maybe. Don't remember if a B version ever existed !
This was the Packard-engined Fighter Bomber precursor of the successful and mythical Rolls Royce-engined P-51 Mustang.

Another one bites the dust...
The North American A-36 which first flew in October 1942 was a dive-bomber based on the P-51 Mustang airframe. The unlikely appearance of this airframe in the separate categories of fighter and dive-bomber came about because the fighter design team could only get additional development funding from the US Army Air Corp through the budget for bomber design, hence the airframe had to carry bombs. The A-36 was equipped with dive brakes, carried 460kg of bombs and used the Allison engine rather than the Rolls Royce Merlin which powered the P-51 Mustang. Some A-36 aircraft served with the RAF in India and in the Mediterranean.

Oh yes, the Allison, not Packard... I mis remembered.
