AB Extended Map problem

Playing PBEM scenario 50 (May 42 start using AB's extended map).
After the first turn, I had a TF stuck in the middle of Australia. He e-mailed me his PWHEX file to make sure we were using the same. I installed it to my ART folder & the base game folder as well as the CHS extended map folder.
I don't seem to be having any problems near Brisbane anymore, but have TFs sailing through the grey area near the ME & Aden.
I ran two sample turns against the AI, and this problem doesn't occur. Any suggestions?

Couldn't figure out how to do that, here's another attempt at first screen:

If you already did earlier turns with the wrong PWHEX, those TFs wandered out of play. Now that you have switch PWHEX files, I'd say they are stuck where they are, marooned, IOW ska-ROOD.
As an emergency fix, you might try going back to the old PWHEX until you have very carefully moved everyone out of the blocked hexes, then reinstall the correct one....

They're moving, though. Check out the Air TF which is in the grey in the first shot, but well clear in the 2nd.

In that case, I'd say that you still have the wrong PWHEX file....

I'll double check with my opponent. I suppose I could do a bit by bit comparison.
Do you happen to know what folder(s) the game reads the PWHEX file from? Or when it reads them?

Pretty sure it reads the PWHEX from the Art directory, most likely when the turn file is loaded, rather than when the game is started.

It reads the one in the main directory, not the art directory. It should read it every time you start WitP.

This is absolutely correct, Cpt Sherwood [:D]
Once I had some problems of installing this extended map over standard AB's map.
The result was that of not copied PWHEX.dat file into the main directory (I thought that exchanging it manually in ART folder is AOK).
If you all have the same problem, replace map bitmaps with AB extended map, BUT REMEMBER TO PUT PWHEX (from v_4X) into the main folder.
The hexes shown on properly installed extended map should be red!

The pwhex.dat should be in the main folder.
Press F6 in game to see what it looks like.

That's right.
Also, it might be different between PBEM play and AI play because with PBEM BOTH players need to use the same PWHEX file. So also check with your opponent. If you have TF's "marooned" in the grey areas you will have to use the "wrong" PWHEX file until all such TFs are moved out into "legal" areas, before switching to the right file.
If you need more help ctangus, please let me know.

Sorry about the misinformation; I got PWHEX files everywhere![:(]

Thanks all. I'll have the grey area clear in another turn or two and hopefully I'll get it working ok then. I have another install with AB's extended map which is working fine PBEM - can't figure out what I did wrong with this one. I'm sure I'll post quickly if I still have problems.
Since I haven't done this yet and am not only thinking of it but also have the opportunity - thanks AB for the map(s)! [&o]

Still waiting for the ships to clear the grey zone.
Just for kicks, I did a bit-by-bit comparison on the different PWHEX files. The one in the game folder = the one in my opponent's game folder that he just e-mailed me = one I just downloaded from Rogue's site = the one in my other install that's working fine. Distinctly different from stock map & standard AB map (checked that to make sure the utility was working ok).
[&:][&:][&:]
Might I have done something wrong installing the non-extended map? Thinking I'll just uninstall & reinstall both map packages. It's not a game breaker, but it is annoying.

If you don't know where the file came from, send it to me and I will take a look.

My Allied opponent complains on same problem. I suspect that he had wrong pwhex.dat in the beggining. Now they seem to be correct, cause stuck TFs do not move. The workaround to get these TFs back could be:
- place AB Map V4 pwhex.dat file.
- made a turn to get TFs on "path"
- place back AB Ext. Map V4 pwhex.dat back
Does it sound reasonable? I'm just afraid to screw up Aden and Panama port and airfields. Should it be done for both players or enough to have it only on Jap side during resolution?
Thanks

Your method is correct. And yes, there will be problems with the Aden and Panama bases during the turns that you are using the other pwhex.dat file - Units based there will survive but you won't be able to load/unload stuff.
After things are fixed, make sure that BOTH players are using the correct map data file.
It is unfortunate that these problems occur, but the game was not designed to be used with alternative maps. There is no choice but to take great care when playing with my map, especially if you also use the stock map and switch between the two.

I only use your map Andrew. No problems and far superior.
