Jutland, anyone??

Several years(and computers ago) I had a game called "Jutland". I think it was made by an outfit called Sierra. It had several scenarios that covered the naval war during WW I.

Does anybody know if this game is still available, or if a game covering this era is available?

I thought I'd treat myself to War Plan Orange for Christmas, just to get away from the damn carriers for awhile. I like the big battleships slugging it out.

The game I mentioned above was a tactical game, in that youu could command anything from the total fleet, or down to a single destroyer. And you could get into the bridge opf the ships and command the guns and watch the shells and the ships as they were hit.

Don't know about Sierra's version, but you might want to check out the HPS one...

That looks interesting, but it's not exactly what I had in mind. The Jutland I used to have was more like (OK, this sounds odd) MS Flight Simulator, in that you actually got in the turret, aimed the guns and fired them. It was 3D and had some beautiful graphics.Or you could get on the bridge, con the ship and set the guns to fire automaticaly.

When i first fired the guns, the wife thought I'd blown my foot off with my 12 gauge.

Sounds like a game I had from Epyx?? called "Destroyer". Easily in my top 10 favorite Commodore 64 games.

Actually, it sounds like you are talking about Great Naval Battles of the Atlantic (GNBA) by SSI. It allowed you to stand on the bridge and command or to enter the gun turrets and direct the fire. I enjoyed this a lot, but I've had trouble getting it to run decently under Windows XP. There were also two sequels set in the Pacific that tried to add air power (very unsuccessfully). I think you can download this from Underdogs.

Nah, he's talking about an original game called JUTLAND released in the early '90s...

I bought Jutland back then, but then I'd buy just about anything that has the word "Jutland" on it. This particular game has decent graphics, but the AI is TERRIBLE! For example, playing the Germans at the Falklands, to escape all you have to do is turn a couple of points and Sturdee sails off to the horizon without ever firing a shot at you!
