Alternate resolutions

Post by Lebatron »

I was wondering if support could be added for a widescreen resolution. Some day soon I'm going to upgrade to a widescreen LCD and would like it very much if WAW could natively support it.

Would it be hard to do? I know in some games its very easy to change the pixel with and height. Even in an old game like Quake it was possible. Half Life 2 is an example of a new game with widescreen support.

If it would take to much development time to justify, I will understand. Perhaps you could release an addon available by download. I would pay for this if it offered new features like the above, plus a really nice improvement over what you got now for network play. Selling all this as an expansion will give you the funds you need to justify spending the time on this. I know 2by3 has already been burned by trying to include network play for free. It set them back months without pay. I'm more than willing to pay 10 to 20 dollars for these extra features.

Since I will be playing this game for years to come I'd like it to offer support for the new upcoming standard in video displays. In one year, widescreen is going to explode into the market and any developer who does not natively support this resolution is going to get flamed by it fans, and knocked in their game reviews.
