a couple of newbie questions

Hi all,

A couple of questions:

1/ If I order a unit to defend in situ & then reattach it to its organic HQ, will/can the HQ overrule the defend in situ order that I as the on map boss gave it??

2/ If I order a force to defend in situ, does the HQ only defend in situ?? Or does it then pass those orders down to its attached units??

I know I could try it out by speeding the game up to see what happens, but then if I didn't get the answer I wanted I'd be reloading to try something else and that (to me) is a waste of a good scenario. Sort of like an undesired handicap........... [:-]
Thanks in advance.

Rob.

Simply:

1 Yes it will overrule
2 No the HQ will pass the order down

Whatever instruction you give to a superior the order trickles down to the inferior. After reattaching units, it's sometimes best to give a new order to the boss unit but not essential.

Cheers
Ray

An easy and quick way to test/learn is to simply load up one of the tutorials with order delays turned off. Then, everything happens immediately.

In the event, that you want to reissue the same order (due to a reattach), but don't want to specify everything out again, then just move the final task marker a slight bit. This causes the AI to replan. Personally, I hardly ever attach or deattach when I have a force involved in a significant mission.
