Hi,
In the manual it says that combat is resolved in 7 phases and that units that are hit in one phase do not progress to the next phase,but I think I read somewhere this was changed with a later version.
Could someone please confirm this??

I still can' t figure out what is the best way to attack a territory.
Air planes and ground forces together in one attack or consecutively attacks with air and land units.
I read in some AAR that people use their air first as it targets arty,but is there a difference in using your air units consecutively rather than concurrently?
If the defender has AA fire it seems better to use all air at once,as the AA seems to target every new air unit that attacks if you use them one by one.

Usually it is better to attack w air first, but there are exceptions.

Air will attack other air then there will be ground/air exchange.

The air attack will target the art. Often it lands one hit but not two. Those damaged art will be off the battlefield when the land units attack - the major advantage to the two phase attack.

Exception. If you want to kill his units, not just damage them, use a combined force.

Example, if he has two ftrs and you attack w two ftrs, the ftrs are likely to damage each other. However, if you use a combined force including AA his damaged ftrs will still be on the scene and can be hit for the second time with the AA, thus killing them.


This decision is more likely to occur in sea battles. As the WA I often use a combined force to kill subs rather than damage them, even though I may sustain more damage myself.

BigSnig, are you sure about the AA being able to hit fighters damaged in air combat? It seems like when I send fighters to engage other fighters, if my fighters are damaged they are not shot at by AA. I haven't tried sending in AA of my own, so maybe that makes a difference.

If a plane is damaged in air-to-air combat it does not proceed to the ground-to-air phase, so you are correct toddthreadway. Thats often a good trick to know about too when dealing with a mixed defense of FTR and AA.
