Question:
Why do my tanks 1 hex away or even on the SAME hex of opposing infantry only get a 3-4percentage rate? Is it because in real life the people are too close & can duck????

Which brings me to my 2nd question; is there a way to find out your percentage BEFORE hitting the FIRE button??

Come to think of it, I've had SOLDIERS touching hexes & get a 4%... but they were both in the woods... is that why?

Thanks.

If you choose your target button you can cycle between every target that unit can see and attack and each will give you a hit %. Just because your in the same hex doesn't mean your too close remember a hex = 50 meters. Terrain plays a part in accuracey so wooded area are tougher to see through.

And both attacking/defending units' status play a big role.
The higher suppression you have the more yr to hit percentage goes down.
For close combat (same hex) dont forget you have melee option (ALT-M) for infantry vs infantry and overrun (ALT-O) for armoured vehicles vs.infantry or guns

Also remember that when you take some fire your tank buttons up. That means instead of the commander standing with half his body out of the hatch looking around, the crew only has a very small slit to look through. Makes it nearly impossible to see anything that isn't right infront of you in the open.

hehe, like Resisti said, USE the ALT-O over-run to wipe out those pesky units on Rough terrain hexes. this is one of the GREAT uses of halftrack mounted infantry combo's and light tanks. (be sure to suppress them thoroughly as possible before you over-run, it raises your chances of wiping them out)

to see your hit probabilities, select your unit, then hover the cursor over its target unit. flamethrowers and sachel charges seem to generate casualties even at low probabilities.

it seems the more surpressed a unit is, the higher your hit probability is.
