Orange Dawn: Notes on British Fleet Dispositions
Posted: Fri Dec 30, 2005 5:38 am
The Orange Dawn scenario will begin in June 1926, with Japan at war against the United States and China. Britain, France, and the Netherlands will be neutral until attacked, or until certain other conditions (to be determined) are met.
Notes on British Fleet Dispositions:
As tensions increased in the Far East after the collapse of the Washington Treaty negotiations in 1922, the British gradually beefed up their naval presence in an attempt to deter Japanese aggression. By the start of the war in 1926, the following British Empire/Commonwealth ships are based in the Far East, tasked with neutrality patrols and serving as a "fleet in being":
FAR EAST FLEET (directly under British control)
Hong Kong Squadron: (based at Hong Kong)
Flagship CA Drake (conjectural design)
Six destroyers.
East Indies Squadron (based at Singapore)
Flagship BB Malaya
3 C-class light cruisers
6 destroyers
India Squadron (based at Colombo and Trincomalee)
Flagship BB Emperor of India
4 "town" class CL
10 destroyers
ANZAC FLEET
BC Australia, BC New Zealand
4 light cruisers
6 destroyers
CANADIAN PACIFIC FLEET
BB Canada
CL Arethusa
4 destroyers
Arrival dates of the rest of the British fleet will be tinkered with but will be similar to those in the Superdreadnought Scenario that "Orange Dawn" is based on.
