We have set up defensive positions just out side of Bir Hacheim. We are to hold at all costs. There is three hills we have set up to the east of. One is in the north and one in the center the last one is in the south. The Engineers has laid a mine field all the way across our front and even laid a double row in the center.
We have been told that there will be a heavy concentration of the enemy as he really wants to push us out of here. One of the Observers has sent me a report that he counts at least 89 units out in front of him. Infantry is leading with the tanks mixing in with them. Dont know how many tanks as yet but hope to get a report very soon.
You can see for 3000 yards at least if not further. Told the three large pill boxes we have to hold off on firing until the enemy is within 2500 yards. maybe they can pick some of the tanks off at range. It is clear and very hot. it is going to be a scorcher today. Have tried to lay in a lot of water as you can drink alot of it on a day like this. All tanks and our AT Guns and sic33 are to hold off till the enemy is within 1500 yards. Looks like we will face over ten companys of men and 5 of tanks from what we have seen so far. Over five to one odds just what a good German soldier needs when he fights.
Our off board 150 will begin to open up as they reach to within 2500 yards of our lines. that should take alot of the startch out of the British. They have to come across over 3500 yards of open ground not much too hide behind out there today.
