newbie want's to try PBEM

Hi,
i would like to try a PBEM game for the first time and i don't have any experience with this.
It doesn't matter which side and I'm willing to try any scenario.
1.6 version without MODS but if they are needed tell me which one.

Wei Gehts meine Herren!! I'm 1/2 German, does that count? And do I get any extra credit for being stationed in Berlin for 6 years (87-93) & marrying a Berliner?
