I just fought a battle at Paris, as the French, against a Austro-Turkish army.

I, of course, had a very large fortress, about 12 hexes or so, all connected.

Unfortunately, the enemy army had about 4 units that were set up inside my fortress, along with 3 of my garrisons.

I don't know if this is proper behavior, but I'd hope it's not.

FWIW.

that just sounds like the randomness of the map set up

it shouldn't happen too often

(LOL now that would make a nasty battle if all the bad guys were to set up in your fort while you were out side of it)

Well, 50% of their army ended up inside it, and all of mine, except the garrisons were outside. Luckily, I hammered the 50% outside and cause them to retreat.

That must have been an exceptionally large fortress. I don't believe I've ever seen one larger than 9 hexes, even at the end of a 23 year campaign.
