Hi
I did an air attack on Spain with 1 fighter,1tac.,3heavy.
1bomber damaged by AA fire so 4 aircraft can perform a ground attack.
Fighter and bomber target one arty.
The second artillery is only shot at by one bomber, the other bomber targets a militia.
I thought every arty was shot at twice by aircraft before other ground units.??
What happened here??

Your aircraft all pick a target before AA fire.

So, in your example 2 aircraft target the first ART, another 2 aircraft target the second aircraft and the 5th aircraft have to settle for something else and randomly pick a MIL.

Then AA fire occurs - and one of your aircraft is aborted.

Actually, this is quite frustrating. I believe that the AA always fires at the "first" planes, those that target the artillery. So if you send air against a zone with a couple of AA and 1 artillery, you are more likely to hit something _other_ than artillery, because you know a priori that the planes that target the arty are likely to get shot down.

Am I correct that this targeting dependence applies?

It would be nice if the targeting of the AA were independent of the targeting of the planes, so this would not occur.

I havent checked if you are correct in your assumption - but I will say that while its frustrating for the attacker that AA seems to protect ART it certainly does not seem unreasonable. Infact, its already too easy to knock out defending ART with air power in my opinion and the only thing that gives the defender a small chance is that his AA may break up the attacking bomber formations.
