Questions from the "newbie"

Again, thanks to all who helped get the lahman thing straightened out for me. Now, a few questions, and excuse me ahead of time if some seem basic.

1. How can I get the players faces?

2. When using the database, do the teams play in their home parks, and if so, during the era that I am playing in? I looked and it seems to say puresim parks. Do we need to preset the parks they play in during that time period?

3. How would you make the salary side more realistic on the scale? For instance, I'm playing the 1978 season, and I'm pretty sure that Dewey Evans was not making $4M that season. What would be an accurate measure? What is the 100% based on? Today's figures?

4. When playing with the MLB players beginning in those seasons, does the association keep track of each teams records since the inception of the association? If so, where can I find it?

5. Is there a database of managers? If so, how can I get this?

Thanks ahead of time for the help!!!

Sean

1.) currently, you can get faces at the download page on the puresim site.
However, I'm working on a 1970s, 1980s & 1990s face pack
That will be done by the end of month (i hope) & those decades will be complete
with every player.

2.) I do believe you have to go in & changes the parks to get the correct ones.
which will be bring me to propose an idea to shaun later on.

3.) you can edit the finances to make them whatever you want. the 100% is based on inflated versions of todays numbers if I'm not mistaken.

4.) in the almanac, right? & also on the team page isn't there a team records link. going by memory here.

5) don't know about a database of managers but that would a great idea if that was possible.

1.) See Edward's post. [;)]

2.) No, the ballparks used are all fictional. If you want the real home parks for your era, you need to edit the parks yourself, either importing .PRK files, or to hand-tailor them yourself.

3.) I've read other posts that suggest 100% is a massively inflated "modern" world, and that 33% feels "correct" for 2005 for most clubs. 1% feels "correct" for 1901, so at that point I might guess something like 17% or 20% for 1978.

4.) In the Almanac you'll find a 'top ten' list for each stat for each team.

5.) Real-life managers are included in the Lahman database, if you open it with Microsoft Access. However, you cannot import them into PureSim.
