Zeros with 60miles range missiles?

Bug or feature?
Zeros on Sweep mission. Altough my fighters at Vladivostok had range set at 0, 21 of them decided to intercept. It's ok.
The problem, HUGE problem, is that after my 21 planes have been shot down, the zeros kept killing the rest of the two russian squadrons that were still over Vladivostok, without engaging them....
This can be a big problem...cause the fighters that did not partecipate to the LRCAP mission did not even have a chance to fight...

Hi Gen,
use LRCAP orders for your fighters with their home base set as target, they won't divert to nearby bases. And the fatigue for flying LRCAP at range 0 is minimal.
What you have seen is probably a version of the "scramble" feature, but I have never witnessed it in a nearby hex, only over the base of the fighters. Strange, really.

The rules say that any time fighters are on regular cap, they may intercept one and sometimes even two hexes away from their base.

Right.
But GH is complaining that number of his ACs shot down was triple than number of his ACs involved in combat.

Hi, Fighters on sweep set to 100 feet altitude strafe the airfield. They should have been recorded as ground kills not A2A

Fighters will not strafe a base if CAP is present.[;)]

If the CAP is defeated, they will.

Hey GH,
I forgot to tell you, that is not Zeros. That is MiG-29[:D][:D].
Ok,enough joking. Zeros was on sweep-11000 feet. I encounter CAP of maybe 20 planes but my zeros destroys 70 planes.
There is 5 Zero daitai with 85-90 exp.

LR CAP does not appear on combat reports sometimes. I see this alot when I send a strike or recon to a base that I have LR CAP'ed. Is it possible that LR CAP plus regular CAP mixed here?

Hey, in my current game my opponent has sent sweeps over a base with no fighters present and they still did not strafe. Can't remember the last time I saw a strafing attack in WITP or UV.

Were they set at 100 feet?

No, ok guys, probably i did not express myself properly.
Let's make an example:
You have 2 squadrons of fighters of 52 planes each based at Rangoon. Both are set with LRCAP range 0, Rangoon as selected target.
Your opponent sends a sweep mission over Moulmein ( 1 hex far from Rangoon).
Altough they were set at 0 range-Rangoon, 21 of your fighters decide to intercept anyway and move themself over Moulmein.
You watch the combat animation. You see your fighters engaging 115 zeros. They kill 12 of them before being wiped out of the skies. When the last fighter of yours is destroyed, you keep seeing the message: *I-16 destroyed by zero*...and it goes on without any other message ( something that prooves that altough i don't see them my other fighters are fighting).
No more zeros, after the wiping out of my first 21 fighters, have been damaged or shot down...and this is quite strange, because before 21 of my planes shot down 12 zeros....
So my understanding is that the system does'nt in these cases understand that part of the squadron was not there and goes in a killing-loop....destroying also the planes that did not take part in the fight...
this is a real bug imho, and can be devastating....

Interesting, I was under the impression that you couldn't assign LRCAP over your own home base.
