Hiya peeps, I actually purchased a copy of SP way back when it came out, but never actually played it, hehe. Was too wrapped up with Ultima Online and Everquest at the time. Anyone suggest any parameters that I should set for the best gaming experience? Squad v. Battalion, etc?

Thanks =D

Hi Blackacre, and welcome.

A couple of suggestions.

1. Read the manual.

2. Read the Manual.

3. Play the tutorial Scenarioes.

4. Hang around here, ask questions, you can't ask for a better bunch of folks.

5. Have fun.

Welcome to the gang. The default preferences are the best for realistic games. On the other hand, it doesn't hurt any to turn off the breakdowns, limited intelligence, and ammo limits while you're learning.

For the new player,

you might want to avoid having Command and Control on (it does really challenge the new player), and not use "slow artillery" setting (unless you like to watch the kabooms).

And the message boxes will say a lot, so leaving them on at a speed that allows you to see them and why such and such happened will be handly too.

But other than that, the games interface is surprisingly user friendly. I cant say one area is better than another. But a live opponent will give you your best game as usual. Although the AI is not going to be easy on ya.

If I read you correctly, forget SP3 and get SPWAW. So very much better you won't believe it.

Welcome!

Hello new meat <img src="smile.gif" border="0"> ) (kidding)

I go with Redleg - get SPWaW v7.0 at this matrix site, so much better!

And don't forget to read the manual, read the manual and play the tutorials. Start by playing small scenarios.

Welcome
