Wonky Allied Escorts

In playing my game I notice on serval occasions that sometimes the Allied escorts fly the mission and then when the bombers reach the release point they fly off in a NW direction, run low on fuel and return to base if they are not bounced and or run out of gas.

This is growing increasingly annoying.

Anyone know what is up with this?

A known bug (called the Dover bug, or the Belfast bug - thats the way they seem to go). I hope it will be one of the things they fix. In PBEM as Ge I usually don't attack them, they are very vulnerable when they do it in Italy!

one way around the DOver/Belfast bug is NOT to use CLOSE escort !!
most often the DoverBelfast bug happens with close escorts !!!

Also to go with this my 2Bomber Group planes which are all Mosquito bombers are not only flying in streams IN DAYLIGHT but also doing the 'belfast bug' leaving the first 3 planes of each sqdn to do the assigned attack. Needless to say losses are excessive

yes, that is the Dover Bug

it also happens with Sweeps too, mainly with the forces in the MED, when possible, use planes with short range for sweeps (P-38's can be a pain, as they will fly almost all the way back to England after a sweep, you can also mkae the unit fly a longer path before it reaches the target, so it burns up more gas)

your bombers in 2nd Tac is not a bug, but a plane type, that type of Mossie flys as a stream, change them to another type of Mossie or other bomber
