PRICES ON OLDER GAMES(Tin Soldiers)

Sorry for putting this in the genreal thread but I was unsure where else to put it. I was wondering if and when prices would be going down on any of the older games, Specifically:Tin Soldiers:Julius Ceasar. This game has been out about a year and I loved the first game(despite it's flaws); and would like to get th DD version but it's still ranked on 29.99(I believe).
Any ideas when there will be a price drop? I love everything Matrix is doing for the wargaming community but unlike a regular store, there is no used section so I have no way of buying a game at a discounted price.
Any thoughts?
Thank you
-jason

Jason,
Actually, we already consider $29.99 a low price for a game like Tin Soldiers: Julius Caesar, which has not been out for a full year yet. Unlike retail releases, which get big sales up front and then get discounted quickly to make space for the next game, games sold online tend to get their sales over time. It's a necessary part of the business model (so that we can actually survive to make more games) for us to avoid quick discounting.
Regards,
- Erik

On the contrary,
Price tag divided by hours played = one hell of a bargain [;)]
Edit: better look up [:D]

I tend to agree.. $29.99 (assuming a standard store "full price" of $45 plus) is dirt cheap for Caesar, IMHO. Its quality tends to get woefully overlooked here as so many just seem to be WW2 obsessives.
The reason for price reductions with many store games is to get rid of surplus stock to clear valuable shelf-space for new releases; by definition that isn't a problem with a downloadable game. That said, I assume Matrix have set the price that they think optimises the balance between number of sales and profit per sale. Sometimes that's too much for some - hence the fact that I still havn't bought WitP!

I expect Ravinhood to remain eternally unconvinced, but with a few exceptions (WitP, for example) we actually price our games at or below the market prices. For small war and strategy game publishers, I would say we definitely have a lot of bargains in our list. It's not that unusual in this area for prices to remain the same for years due to the lack of store shelf space pressure, whereas we do tend to reduce most games gradually over time to make it easier for customers with less spending money to try out our older titles.

- Erik

Tin Soldier Julius Caesar is a great game, especially at 29.99. If you want to see more titles from that era the only way to make it possible/profitable is to purchase the product. Ravinhood is often disappointed with the AI of many games - TSJC does very well in the AI dept and is a great single player game.

Hey Erik I bought Tin Soldiers: JC so shaddup! [:D] It is a good price. And I was ranting as usual cause WitP is so GD expensive. [:'(]
Also since TS:JC is exceptional I think you should give Koios at least one retail shot. That game marketed beside a RTW I think would sell, the artwork of the game is better than I've seen in many a year, I think the backcover art would sell the game alone just because of the realistic looking minatures. Just my 2 cents on marketing strategy. [;)]
