6 Nations

In response to our american friends talking about the superbowl.
Thought i'd start one on the far superior game of rugby union[;)] and the current 6 nations championship that started this weekend.
for those who dont know the following play a 'round-robin' style of play and the ultimate goal is the 'grand-slam' i.e no losses
England
Wales
Scotland
France
Ireland
Italy
With Ireland barely managing a win against Italy on saturday and England thrashing wales ( last years winner) 47-13 the same day it's looking good for England. Scotland had a suprise win vs Frnace on sunday too! , so the main protagonists i.e Emgland/France/Ireland/Wales have shown much varied formance.
In a completely non-political fashion .. COME ON ENGLAND..
after round 1 we are winning BUT there is a long way to go still.

Is Wales really a nation? No offense to any of our Welsh friends, nor to my ancestors, but isn't Wales really just a region within the UK?

Texas thinks it is it's own country too so I can understand.
What I can not understand is the facination with soccar. I know it is the most popular sport world wide but it seems boring to me and I even think baseball is exciting.

Yeah, I'm kind of ignorant on whether Wales/Scotland/England are countries or provinces. Maybe someone who lives there can quickly explain how it works.
Is Wales it's own country? Like Canada? Or is it a province of the country United Kingdom? (same thing with Scotland and England)
As I said, I'm a bit ignorant on it, but I thought the country was called England. And that England included Wales and Scotland.
thanks for any explanation.

Come on England!! [;)]
As for soccer.....err football you mena. It's the national sport. At schools boys always play it in sports lessons. Even at lunch breaks we were always out playing footie!
Personally I prefer Tennis as a sport. The people I work with think I look like Leyton Hewitt although I can't see it!

Hi Brad,
England, Scotland and Wales are their own countries.
The United Kingdom comprises England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland

If your Welsh yes [;)].. Seriously though it is part of the UK , liek scotland , BUT does now have its own national assembly for partial self rule .. so it is historically a nataion (ish) but does like scotland harvour a fierce national identity

Well we do drive on the 'left' so anyone being pedantic can call it 'wrong' [:D][:D][:D][:D].
Actually why ??? do we drive on the left ... most countries do drive on the right .. except italy and greece where both sides are fair game ( i've driven in both ! ) [;)]

I think Nik's problem is he is missing the brake pedal, not the steering wheel. [:D]
