A two parter...

1. This is the cover of what publication?

2. Can you identify the three people shown?

Nope... missed 'em all... [:D]

Hint: Think "Battle of Britain" for the lower pic.

Wow.. am I the only member with a stash of original "Avalon Hill General" magazines?

This is the cover of Volume 5, No. 1 from May 1968.

The gentlemen in the airforce uniform is Sgt Lou Zocchi the designer of Gamescience Corporation's "Battle of Britain".

The balding guy in the upper right is Colonel Donald L Dickson who "authenticated" the AH "Guadalcanal" game. He designed a great number of military simulations for the Marines that weren't commercially exploitable so he is a bit of an unknown designer. He didn't design Guadalcanal BTW... just wrote some contributory commentary since he was actually there.

The kid is Scott Duncan who was the leader of the IFW (International Federation of Wargaming) and a designer of political games like "World Affairs" (Gamescience Corporation).

Actually, I just thought the title: "The Game Designer: A Vanishing Breed?" would bring a few chortles from someone. [:D]
