Can cornerbacks be assigned to specific receivers so that the cornerback will switch to the side of the field that the receiver is on when the players line up in formation?

What kind of logic can be assigned to linebackers to look for the run and drop back into a zone? Linebackers often need to defend a gap and a zone at the same time.

Great question on cornerbacks, since a GM can stick his best receiver in the slot and get an advantage.

you mean player matchups and defensive audibles? best cornerback vs. best reciever for example on the matchups? What I would like to know is if the logic will work where the proper position player covers the proper opposite offensive player. I mean in madden in the past, you could call a nickel defense but the outside linebacker would cover the slot reciever instead of a nickel back before even a audible was called. This is in reference to the american portion of Max football but would be a issue for all of the games.

Yes, that is what I mean. Can the receivers be counted off or set for match-ups?

That should be part of the logic, but I am unsure if each offensive position has a unique indicator.
