I downloaded the patches and unzipped them. I then istalled them after clicking on the unzipped files. Can I now delete the unzipped patches from the unzipped file in windows or does it need it to access the changes?

You can delete them from the unzipped folder after you have them copied into the game. The game only looks into itself for files. However, I usually save them somewhere - just in case.
