How are you using the other countries??

I just started scenario 1 against the AI at the hard setting. Japan is going after PI and I have just finished a few turns creating my transports and reinforcements for Pearl Harbor area. My question is should be using the transport ships from France, England, etc... to provide supplies to PI basis or should I be sticking only to US resources? Also, how likely would other countries be sending troops? Sorry, my history knowledge in this era is low.

I think that this question is very open.

Most PBEM games seem to limit it to a war between the US and Japan. In my PBEM "Terrible Swift Sword" the sides are US, France, and China against Japan, with limitations on Chinese and French ground forces.

Allied cargo vessels and tankers can be used from all countries, but supply for French and PI and China bases must be moved from India or the US. You can not resupply the PI from China or Indo-China etc. Only US cargo ships can participate in an amphibious invasion or be converted to auxillary ships, Q-ships or commerce raiders.

Seems complicated but it really is not if you think about what would probably happen in real life. It is doubtful that ammunition would be available in China, the PI would have to be supplied from the home country etc. Cargo vessels of all nations would be available moving troops and supplies (look at WWI), they would not want to be part of an amphibious invasion - but certainly they would move goods between the US and Pearl etc.

This is in part, what motivated me to create "Cautionaries" .. to replace the house rule restrictions .. with built in scenario restrictions ... it is not as easy as I thought to get it "perfect" .. but we're getting closer to that with each iteration ... but Cautionaries only has US and Japan ... essentially a "pure" WPO scenario.

...and an only scenario where Japan actually has a chance :)

Good luck battling USN *and* RN in campaigns...

Actually, in the campaigns the RN doesn't make an effective prescence for four years (1925/29). Truth be told, if you haven't defeated the USN by then, you never will. That was the balancing feature. So Japan has as much chance as the US even in the campaigns.

I stand corrected :)

Now if we only had some completed AARs - there's only one 1.00 one... ah, in due time :)

No particular reason, though I personally felt that given a lack of a French presence, and at the time a staunch anti-war philosophy, that Japan would have no problem sweeping them from the seas so to speak. Tackling the UK would be a different prospect however.
