BB Colorado needs your help

In an Allied game against the AI, I had a series of bloody night engagements around Rabaul. Causalties were heavy on both sides and Colorado just barely managed to limp (more like drift) back to Shortlands. That was a few months ago, and she's now at 92/0/0. I have two ARs tending her and also total air dominance, so she should be safe where she is. The question is if it's possible to move her back to the shipyards or is she doomed to remain coastal artillery until the end of the war?

I don't know any mean of how you coul tow her back to shipyard. The "tow" TF shold be included in the game. tey could solve this with tow ships and tow TFs where damaged ships with trawlers could travel at 5 knots.

Ships always move a minimum of one hex per phase (two hexes per day). Since you have 0 flotation damage, it should be safe to move her someplace better for repair.
Put her in an "escort" TF. This will make sure that whatever escorts you assign her do not desert her. You are going to give her some escorts, right?[;)]

If she's at 0 FLT, you might as well try and move her if you think you can escort her safely out of the battle zone. Get her to a shipyard. You might get her services back in a year's time [;)]

Yeah, with no FLT damge, send her and the ARs to... I think Sydney is the closest yard. Be prepared to leave her there for a loooong time.

Pretty sure once a ship reaches 50 sys, she can get more only through enemy action.

You can go anywhere you want with 99 sys damage. You die from FLOAT damage, not sys damage. Moving at 99 sys damage is harmless, unless somebody puts a torp into you. But if you move with 99 sys damage, I'm not sure you'd even take the random damage, and even if you did, it wouldn't matter (99 is max). Again, it's the float damage that kills you, not sys.

Won't take SYS, but can take FLT damage though as Allied i wouldn't worry about it. very unlikely

OK, then I only got to worry about the fact that the whole Japanese submarine fleet seems to have gathered between the Solomons and New Guinea

That would worry me. [:D]
provide a big escort and use "escort TF" mission otherwise the tacAI will split off Colorado with one escort from your TF

Just don't send the BB to Townsville...this is basically the hex the AI goes to and from.

I sailed the HMS Hermes from Daveo to Sydney with 97 system damage and its down to 52 system 6 months later so the Colorado should make it fine after it gets by the subs

Unless they changed this she will actually repair some sys damage while underway.
Do watch out for subs...

Shortlands is a good port (6 IIRC) so I would just leave it there until it can make 9 knots. Less than 1/1 hexes per turn is just torpedo bait.
Bring in 2 more ARs (you can stack 4 in a port) and a Naval HQ and things will speed up dramatically. Within 6 months she can be moved to Auckland and be back in service within 12-14 months.
