I have just encountered a problem loading saved games. I start from either the "load local game" option, or the in-game menu "open" option, and the game just hangs when I try to open a game. It has worked before no problem, but now I can't seem to load any of my saved games. New local games seem to start fine.

I'm running 1.2.18 and the load worked fine on this before, so not sure what's going on. Haven't tried a reinstall yet (last resort!).

Are you able to load any saved games at all? Are they games that were saved during detailed combat or during the strategic level? Do the "autosave" games load?

I tried three different saved games (one being an autosave), and none of them worked. I can't try any more at the moment because I went for a reinstall but can't download the 1.2.1.8 patch (see my and others' posts at the end of the "1.2 patch news" thread).

The games were all saved at the strategic level.

I've now managed to reinstall to 1.2.18 and I can't get any of the saved games including autosaves to load. Could i send you a copy of one to take a look at it?

Are all the games you're having problems loading from the same game/scenario?

Do you happen to have a RAID array or some similar storage system? (There was one player who had a RAID who had problems loading saved games but found a work-around for it.)

If you're not able to load any games at all, then I suspect the problem doesn't have anything to do with the save game files, since there don't seem to be general problems with the save/load game routines.

If you *can* get new games to save/load, then there may be a problem with the save game files themselves. In this case, please zip both the .sve and .rep files and send them to my email address at ericbabe@west-civ.com and I'll take a look at them.

I am for the standard scenarios, but not for a scenario where I modded the start2.txt file

I only have one save game that is v1.2.18 and not from the modded scenario, and that loads fine.

No.

Looks like it might be something to do with the scenario with the modded start2.txt file. All I did was change some the Turkish units start positions.
