Movement allowances (Napoleonic games)

Infantry, artillery and cavalry have all been given the same movement allowance: 12 ‘movement points’. I do not like this for two reasons: I think that the movement allowance for infantry is too high and I think that cavalry and ‘horse artillery’ were generally faster moving than infantry and ‘foot artillery.’
I’ve noticed that HPS have released patches for their Napoleonic games to address the same issues. They have given infantry and foot artillery 10 movement points and cavalry and horse artillery 14 points. I do not personally like that either. I think that cavalry and horse artillery were faster than infantry and foot artillery – but not that much faster.
I’ve modified my BG games (and HPS games) to give infantry and foot artillery 10 movement points and cavalry and horse artillery 12 movement points. I’ve been very happy with the couple of games that I've played with those movement allowances.
To compensate for the small reduction in movement allowance I also made it easier for infantry to change facing and about turn.
