Possible CHS Bug

I'm playing with the extended map. I have to withdraw a CL and two DDs. I have suitable ships in the Middle East and Karachi, but in both cases, the withdrawal option doesn't show up on the ship detail screen. Is this a bug or a feature?

You must have the ships in the middle east, and they must be British, not any other nation.
That withdrawal button will be at the very bottom, (if you have not seen it.)
Also note that if the ships are damaged excessively, it will count against you.

A British CL and two DDs, check.
Middle East base, check.
No damage, check.
No withdrawal button, WTFO?
I note the default base is Auckland. Do I have to go to Auckland?

Nope. Withdrawal ports in standard map are Bombay and Karachi. I don't know if Middle East is added as such in extended one.

I believe they have to withdraw from Aden, next to Middle East.
Many British ships do not have an appropriate "Return To" button. I think this is because the CHS team wanted to make India Command a locked HQ and the only way of doing that was to change names with another HQ. Annoying little thing, but worth the annoyance, I think.

Aden works. So does Bombay. Karachi and the Middle East don't.

Also make sure they're Brit ships as there are some Aussie & others in SE Asia. Bombay works either in CHS or standard version, I've not tried Eden/ME since I normally send them to Bombay. The ships have to be disbanded in port then go to ship & it should show option to withdraw at bottom.

Correct. And this really needs to be highlighted in the CHS documentation.

PS: Auckland shows as a default base because the India Command HQ is the old NZ command HQ renamed. This was done as we wanted to have this command as a restricted command, so we "stole" the old NZ command HQ for the job.
