Port Alice in CHS

Any reason why Port Alice was made into such a supply hog? Seems odd that this one base unit requires 30000 plus supplies when others far larger do not.

This is an automatic function of all ports in US West Coast and Canada Command. Perhaps to simulate civilian populations???

You will have to ask the game designers that question. I think the program marks any base East of a certain hexrow as requiring large amounts of supplies, presumably to assist with supply transfer between bases in North America. Unfortunately Port Alice, due to its location, has the same requirement.

Try modifying the scenario to add 40,000 supplies to the base, then see what happens.

Edit: Oops! East, not West...

It does have something weird. In my game (CHS1.06) unit that is (was) there just withered away no matter how much supply I poured in...[&:][:@]. No other island base in game has so far acted like that...

Here is the situation with Port Alice at the start of August 42. It is a voracious baseforce killing machine. No amount of supply has been enough, but at least the base unit has refilled a bit over the last few months but is suffering losses too...up and down goes the fortunes of these poor buggers.(the BF was basically a shell when I noticed this strange requirement after all the Stranraers went unservicable).

Well, I had the same problem - base force withered away - and I solved it by bringing in supply by CS convoy. Yes, it takes a lot. Once I kept the supply level above about 70,000 the base force slowly filled back out to full TOE.

Why not asign it to some HQ other than the Canadian Command?

That would accomplish???[:)] Hey man, Canada is small enough in this game, I'm not going to demean it anymore by assigning foreigners to command. It was hard enough trying to get William Holden and Cliff Robertson to cooperate.

Good idea. I hear Canada's part of Quebec anyway. [:D]

Canada is going to be four or five different parts soon enough because of Quebec and the gutless bastards who run this country who refuse to stand up to the brat province.[:@]I'm about 1/3rd French Canadian so for me to talk like this gives you an idea just how pathetic it is getting up here.

I could be wrong but I think that it is location based, not command based. Would need to be tested (Ron??).

I'm still trying to determine what difference a command HQ change wouldmake.

Actually, I just re-read Don's first post in this thread. He says that it is for bases that are in West Coast or Canada Commands. How about testing it by changing Port Alice to North Pacific Command, Ron? Can you force yourself to do that as a Canadian??

Never![:D] Guess they are just high maintenance hippies and welfare losers needing the safety net!

I'll rig up a scenario and see what happens but that's sovereign land!
