Frustrating lack of pass coverage options

Spent the night again working on defenses, tonight was setting up to defend a formation with the SE and SLOT on one side and the TE on the other. It is impossible to get man to man coverage on the slot, any DB given man coverage will only cover the outside reciecer on each side. So the DB on the TE side plays him M2M, the DB on the other side plays the SE M2M, I move one of the DB(S) over the SLOT and gave him a M2M command. He promtly runs out and also covers the SE M2M argh [:@]

Anyone havig better luck?

Nope, the defense has limited options at this point.

I have been encountering the same thing. This issue has caused me to stop even trying to make defensive plays until it is addressed. The play editor is the main draw of this game for me. And right now it is not workable.

Give David your suggestions then. I haven't messed with the Defensive side of the PDS (been working mostly on Offense) and I do agree it could use a few more features on Defense. Keying on certain Offensive players is probably one of the top features that needs to be added to the PDS in my opinion.

The frustrating piece for me is not being able to draw my own zones like in FPS 98. Any chance David of providing more flexibilty on the defensive play generation (drawing custom zones or points on field, bump & run, shade under or deep in M2M, etc)?

I too bought this game mainly for the PDS and ability to design my own plays and playbook. I feel we are almost there, just needs a few more options & tweakin on both sides of the ball, but mainly defense.

I am going to take a closer look at the play logic today for building game plan profiles, anyone done this yet and have feedback?

I tried looking at the Profile systems of the Playbooks, and do look a little similar to how Football Pro did there Profile systems, but its kinda confusing to figure out. Kinda hard to read what Profile system works with what play for me. [:(]

I went into the LogicCommand table of the Main Data file and added TE to line up on man. I just made a play and am getting ready to try it on the field. Also added pass rush to DB's. So we'll see.

OK I'm not sure either worked. I need to spend some time palying with the PDS for defensive plays.

Looking forward to your feedback. I didn't know you can add logic to this...awesome if it works.

Thx 21sec

I already tried this, it doesn't work. Also tried adding "Real to WR" under the handoff options and it didn't take it either. The engine has to have the code to do these things, the database is just putting in a field for the engine to look at and execute. I don't think the engine has man 2 man on TE logic to it.

David - can you provide some feedback on this when you get a moment to let us know your plans for the PDS after the initial progam fixes happen?

The PDS is very important to me, as others I imagine, and I was hoping for something better than FPS. Right now I feel the PDS is very limiting, especially on defense, which drastically takes away from the game and playmaking experience.

Thanks David.
