Pass Rush or Run Rush?

From working on defensive plays I have come to the conclusion that I will leave my DL at Move to Next Point rather than use either the pass rush or run rush. When a player gets a move to next point command they wind up just pursuing the ball rather than stand still on pass when they're run rushing or vice versa.

A simple solutions solves many problems. Nice.

Noticed this also. The DB's didn't have a "pass rush" command, but by simply having them move past the line of scrimmage they went right for the QB on a blitz.

I'm not sure this works well (Moving to next point). It seems to just move the defensive players straight up the field, at least the DL and only the players near the ball carrier have a shot of noticing him. It MIGHT be because I play with Intelligence drastically lowered, so they don't react as quickly... Someone using standard ratings might be able to tell what the result of "Move to next point" for those players you want to 'rush' is. Do they just move straight up the field, or do they move to the ball carrier?

The interesting thing here is, they seem to get past the blocks more easily, or it makes them more susceptible to being pushed out of the way... Run rush regularly dropped backs for losses.. "Move to next point" often leads to the entire DL being in the backfield while the runner just scoots past and then has open field ahead of them...

How about trying a "move to next point" then at the next point "run rush"? This may be an answer to having them simply stand there if you only give them a run rush command and nothing else.

In answer to your question, I made a play where the DB moved to the other side of the line of scrimmage, that's it. Once he crossed the LOS he went for the QB automatically who had the ball at the time. It worked exactly like a corner blitz, the sacking animation looked really good too.

Hmmm... people where complaining that it was impossible to have a DB blitz with the PDS, I guess this solves this problem. just use the "move to next point" command, have hime cross the LOS and the DB will go for the QB. Some of these people that complain about every feature in the game need to do some testing before griping. There may be a solution already in the game. [8|]

Well, that's great for blitzes... Not so great for 'run stuffing' if the player has to be past the line of scrimmage before he goes after the runner (and that's what seems to be the case in the tests I've done). There's a huge difference between the effectiveness of a run defense where the players are set on 'run rush' and just a 'move to next point'.

But the inside run game is one of the best I've seen. Then again I haven't bought Madden since 2003.

I bought Madden 2003 for the PC and immediately sold it on Ebay. One of the worst Football games I ever bought.

As for the DB's not reacting too Run's if they Blitz, true, that is a limitation, but if your going too blitz it should be a risk, even when the opposition Runs against you.

Yeah, my run blitzes don't work. The LBs and DBs go right past the runner without noticing him.

Haven't tried it yet, but how about a "move to next point" then "key on HB"? So you kind of blitz with the move command, then he goes for the HB? Just something to try to get a run blitz.
