Hi-Playing v1.6, scenario 15. At game time 00:00:01 hrs 1 Jan. 45 my WITP game flashed on the sceen "Decisive Allied Victory". The score was 80144 to 37524 foir a 2.1358 ratio.
Statistics: 2168 Japanese ships sunk, including 13 CV, 6 CVL, 5 CVE, 2
CS, 12 BB, 18CA, 22 CL & 146 DD, vs 317 Allied ships sunk.
25276 Japanese planes vs 17854 Allied lost.
Japan held 181 bases vs 269.
Army loss points-Japan 9685 vs 12790 Allied.
Strategic losses- Japan 5340 vs 0 Allied.
Holdings- Allies held:
Akyab, all of Timor & Bula. All of New Guiena except Babo.
Korea up to Taegu. All of Formosa & Kiungshan on Hainan.
Hong Kong, Canton & Swatow.
All of the Phillipines except Davao.
Okinawa, Osumi Iwo & Tori Shima.
All Pacific islands except Truk, Palau, Bonins, Kwajalein &
3 other smaller islands.
India & Australia.
How they got there. Pretty much followed historical strategy, except ops
executed ahead of historical schedule.
Mistakes: 1. Ignoring SEAC for almost all the game after stabalizing
Akyab-Imphal-Kohima line.
2. Completely ignoring China until the end, when I almost lost
my 2:1 ratioo due to Japanese conquests.
3. My handling SS. I could have done better.
4. More operation air losses than necessary due to not bring
bringing Eng units form US as they appeared. This was due
to hoarding shipping in SoWesPac & CentPac-not returning
to US.
Problems. Record keeping. AI did strange things such as fighting non e
existant Allied on Japan proper. I had a strange game- to
build port, air & forts I had tom set to "Do not Build."
Conclusions: 1. Air power is the key, but you need naval air to get the
troops to the islands to build air bases, i.e.a truly tri-
phibious effort.
2. The other key was supply- a constant flow.( I never
was able to make the Constant Supply or other auto-
matic supply devices work for me.)
3. A TERRIFIC game!!.
