Something to really think about!

Well so far over a period of about a year this forum has had 4 threads locked down. These are:
An Ode to the Forum Mar 2006
Problems at the Depot? Oct 2005
Is A Moderator Needed Here? Oct 2005
Sympathy For The Devil? Apr 2005

A forum member walks off after a "novel" suggestion about the thread and its contents.

A lot of time spent on "game play" arguments associated with people adding some form of fuel to maintain minor thread wars.

This does not include thread lock downs at another forum as well as various bannings

I am not saying any of these lockdowns or banns are right or wrong. They are decisions by the forum operators, and not something I intend to discuss nor am I making any judgement of these decisions.
They are to be honest is something of the PAST.
It just seems that this place has become a little off track over the last 6 months or so.

Just wondering if it’s a good time to come back to what this place is all about
Game problems, what we would like to see in the next patches, new scenarios and all the real things as applicable to this great game!, Making friends and contacts, etc..

Almost forgot Alby’s posts on his many version of the Multi Mod as they pour out to the community.

Anyway just a suggestion.

I, (for one), appreciate your concerns, but am not prepared to abandon ship, (nor hope) just yet.
Fifty to seventy-five per cent of the lockdown "problems" were caused by fairly new "members" (or interloping trolls who arrived here after being thrown off similar forums.)
Another of the "locked" threads was a case of "remorse", and was recognized as such, by all regulars.
We have "let it die", as a "thing of the past."

Yeah, it's difficult at times to try to keep a positive spin on things.

However, one comment on the moderator issue: if a problem persists, all of us have access to the senior forum administrators, and if needed, they WILL take action.

Also, the depth of passion that this game generates, for good or ill, is testament to its greatness and long-term appeal. It has certainly inspired me to study the Pacific Theater, and it has led me to establish relationships with like-minded folks in another forum.

Simply being "into the game" has created some valued friendships, and when it gets down to it, that's been the best part of the SPWaW experience for me. Yeah, we all have our quirks, but the SPWaW world is populated by many very interesting people. [:D]

What I miss is real people to talk to that are civil, courteous and polite that share a common bond in this brotherhood of electronic wargaming called SPWAW. I miss developing the relationships with people from different parts of the world that have a whole new angle of looking at things. For example, the guy who went on a tirade about Romania, Sure he went about it the wrong way but everyone at least dove into theor own personal stash and started researching romania and what its role during the war was. This is the kind of stuff I hope we can get back to discussing.
