How to make the AI work better (without code)

It appears most units begin the game with NO planning. This means the AI does not tend to focus on what the units tried to take (or defend). Sometimes units are wrongly assigned too - imagine my surprise when stock scenario 15 reversed the two units in Northern Luzon - a division and a brigade - and had each do the other's job! Yet a division is not a brigade - and they should not be traded.

Testing indicates that simply assigning units their historical objectives goes a long way to getting the AI to do things smarter.

It also appears that the AI is designed to have modules - and these are not being used as designed. They allow designation of a proper order of support bases, and other things that might be germane. Perhaps we should explore programming these as intended?

It is my understanding from the manual and the boards here that the AI modules only work for the smaller scenarios. It does not and was not designed for the Campaign game.

I can see - with only four modules - that the special modules are not numerous enough to run the campaign game. But they should work and could be programmed to make the Japanese offensive more historical - I speculate.
