I have been playing around with the PDS designing a college playbook. Things worked fine for defense and running plays. But when I worked on a passing play using the commands I have used designing other plays, the QB will not pass, he scrambles everytime. I have put the recievers "look for pass" command very early, the recievers are open but the QB turns up field and runs. This is with the read command. Finnally I tried a timed bullet pass, the QB did throw that, but I would much rather have him read two recievers and throw to the open man.

Increase his pocket passer rating?

This is in the PDS practice plays, I have used about 10 different teams to practice the play and all the QBs do the same thing. Im not sure what their pocket passer rating is but would they all scramble?

Just went back and tried the play using the teams of the 1959 league I have running. It now works fine. Im not sure if the teams I was using before are of the college ability level, or pro, maybe the college level has QBs with overall poor pocket passer ratings.

I noticed in the 2 games I have watched cpu vs cpu, in the game with pro level teams that came with the game, the QB threw a good deal, but with 2 teams from a league set at college/hs level, the QB ran much more than he passed.

It sounds as if this is in keeping with your observations.

I had a game last night where one team did not throw the ball once. Every pass play resulted in a scramble or sack.

(The scramble works work very well. I thought I had Vince Young back there.)

I agree the QB scramble is okay but think that there are too many scrambles now and not enough passes.
The final stats of all games I've played show more rushing attempts by far than pass attempts. There was one game with only 2 attempts recorded in stats but about 10 rushes by the QB

never mind....too easy

i changed the QB Threshold from 2.5 to 3 in MainData.mdb
this seemed to stop the QBs from scrambling excessively and resulted in them passing more. i haven't tested this to great length but it seems to have a significant effect.
Question for Dave,

What does the QB Threshold do? I noticed in this latest patch the QB Threshold was lowered from 3.5 to 2.5
Also, when you get some time, could you provide some more explanation on the Data Constants?

Hey, not so fast! There are already requests for Maximum Hockey, Maximum Lacrosse and Maximum Curling.[:D][:D]

OK no offence, but those are all stupid.
