Bridges...

The way I understand it, bridge blowing, and rebuilding work like this in COTD...

1. Just about ANY unit can demolish bridges.

2. Only engineers can rebuild them.

3. Every attempt to "blow" a bridge causes a somewhat randomized level of damage to it.

4. Once the maximum damage for the bridge is reached, it is considered destroyed.

5. A bridge need not be completely "destroyed" to become unuseable for units. It need only be damaged. Once damaged, an "X" is placed over it on the game map, and units will not be able to cross it.

6. The more damage a bridge has suffered, the more time it will take for an engineer unit to repair it to useful status.

7. In test I did, it took French engineers four days to completely repair the destroyed stone bridge south of Ulm. They did this on one order in "forced" mode.

8. In other tests I did, my French engineer stationed in Ulm could completely destroy the stone bridge to the south of Ulm in four days in "forced" mode. Unlike bridge building, strangely enough, upon completeing one demolition attempt, the engineers go into "fallback" mode and seem to take the rest of the day off. To get them to work again, I had to reissue the order, and the next attempt would be made on the follwing day. This causes bridge demolition to take almost as long as bridge construction. I believe this is a "bug."

Anyone have any thoughts to add?

Yes, but they must be in a Town/Cityif not Engineers.
2. Only engineers can rebuild them.

Yes, but they must be in a Town/City.

That is my understanding of the rules.
4. Once the maximum damage for the bridge is reached, it is considered destroyed.

Don't know , but that appears a good assumption.
5. A bridge need not be completely "destroyed" to become unuseable for units. It need only be damaged. Once damaged, an "X" is placed over it on the game map, and units will not be able to cross it.

No idea, I had thought that it needed to be destroyed to have an X placed - but I think you know more than me here.
6. The more damage a bridge has suffered, the more time it will take for an engineer unit to repair it to useful status.

Don't know. Appears reasonable.
