It is March 43 the Americans have avoided CV action up to this point save for an excursion to save Port Moresby which was successfull. The only CV they have lost is the Sara. We have had Palmyra a long time and it is built up maxed out with fighters. Christmas Island is also ours but not as built up. We have 8 CV`s in the area. We suspect they will try to retake Palmyra and as such they use massed LRB from Hilo for a few day`s without to much luck. A BB TF is spotted about 300 miles northeast Palmyra on the 17th and we assume it is coming in to Bombard and destroy the airfields. We sortie a handful of MLs to slow them down so that they can be caught just shy of Palmyra in daylight that seems to work. The next day all hell breaks loose as the entire American fleet suddenly appears offshore with Invasion TF and all the CV`s he has. How my Emily`s missed them is hard to fathom.

Good show. Looks like Japanese carriers ended up being ineffective.

The Allied uberCAP is a b1tch to penetrate with KB air assets. This is a difficult siuation for Jap player to be in - fighting a near equal enemy at the limit of your operational effectiveness.

The Allied landing has stalled. IJN can't project enough power to deal with USN. - LOOKS LIKE A STALEMATE TO ME - would be interesting to see situation in 30 days - with comparative losses

this place is too far from good port to fight for KB

Agreed interesting...But the US can now evacuate and bypass...The LCUs will regenerate their losses quickly....

But the losses to the KB are much more severe and long lasting.....

Was impressed by the losses to the B-24s though...

what is the point of engaging KB in 1943 when you cannot couple it with LBA from bases in range ? Just put lots of LCUs, CDs, AAA, mines, and level 9 forts and let him lose lots of energy there...

Save your LBA and KB finest for the Gilberts or Marshalls where you will need them and will actually able to make the difference...

Without KB, you would have achieved a great result ( stalling an invasion ), forcing him to either withdraw or stay committed, bringing additionnal forces. YOu could have striked then, had you really wanted to... But still better to just leave it to your LCUS... You have lots of them, can save fragments if it isn't forbidden by house rules, and by some time to be ready to fight where it will favour you more... In Palmyra you accepted to fight on almost even conditions, something you can't afford uin 1943...

regarding Emilys, I don't know if it is efficient, but on valuable bases, or ones that I think are threatened, I try to have one chutai doing long range research, one doing 8-10 range research, and than one jack or pete doing 4 or 5 range research... It might not be efficient, but I just figure long range patrol can miss a lot more than short range one.. Maybe it doesn't work, I don't know what it has any effect codewise... Just a thought.
