Shorter scenarios for Andrew's map 5.1?

Andrew Brown,

Is there any hope that you will convert some of the shorter WitP scenarios for use with your 5.1 unextended map? I remember that you did so for the 4.x map, and they were great fun.

Thanks!

Andrew Brown,

Is there any hope that you will convert some of the shorter WitP scenarios for use with your 5.1 unextended map?

Nope. None whatsoever.

That is because I am already finishing up work on version 6 of my map. I didn't intend to release another update so early, but I wanted to update a couple of things on the version 5 map, and the update grew a little.

Part of the map update will be another set of scenario updates, and I do still intend to convert and release some of the shorter scenarios. However this will have to wait for a few other things, such as the release of the next CHS update (also being modified to use the version 6 map). So it will be a little while yet (read - quite a few weeks).

The thing that got me started on another map update was wanting to modify some of the terrain in Eastern China, to make it more rugged. I had originally planned on doing this at a later stage, but I recently decided to do it sooner rather than later. Because I was updating the map I also added a few more things that were in my map "to do list".

I will soon be releasing a list of changes for the version 6 map (once I actually have a list!). Games started on a version 5 map will still be able to be played on the version 6 map (with the ususal caveat of not picking up the new bases).

So my apologies for the delay...

Andrew

Well, there is May 42 campaign scen for AB map, but unfortunately it seems to have couple of bugs with base forces.

Since RHS scenarios work with the CHS maps -

IF I can get past the issuing of the full war scenarios,
which integrating is prooving a challenge,

it is my plan to release one scenario per year:

1942: Coral Sea Start
1943: Aleutians Start
1944: Marianas Start
1945: Iwo Jima Start

which would begin the war with the situation at the beginning of those campaigns - and turn you loose from there.

Lack of interest in short scenarios has pushed this to the bottom - as well as "you must get the main one working first" as a principle. I also have detected interest in a dedicated August Storm scenario - which others are doing. So I wondered about a "Strike North" scenario? The main problem is - how can Japan do that and deal with fuel? There IS oil on Sakhalin - but is it enough? [For that matter there is oil in Cook Inlet - but did Japan know that - and could it actually get at it even if it took the place?]
