1400 Hours

Our orders are to set up a defensive line and not let the British go past us. we have laid one lane of mines and have 3 pill boxes to supplament our efforts. We have set up in the foot hills of three small hills facing east towards the sun. All the mens spirits are high and our supplys came earlier today. We will have an over abundance of mortar shells as they came in last night. The men are sitting around joking and drinking coffee as we prepare to face the british might once again.

Visability is 1400 yards today at least. I have given orders no gun will fire before 700 yards tho as i want direct hits from the first shots. The British will be appearing im sure with in the next 10 minutes running across the desert floor in those stupid burlap things they call uniforms. When are they going to come up with a descent uniform for christsake. You think they would want them to die dressed half way human. At least our uniforms beat theres all to hell and back. We look good when we go to hell at least.

I can hear the roar of there matilda engines coming to life so this debacle will soon begin once again. Once again the world will go insane and men will try to end other mens lifes in anorther horrific batttle.

Dam this battle was short and sweet. The british have given up and are retreating away from the area. Setting the range to 700 yards before opening up on them worked wonders. It was a turky shoot from the begining. We lost 30 men to there 824 plus two of there artty pieces along with 26 tanks to our 4. They never reached our mine field not one unit. Our 150 were deadly on there troops out in the open.

Our AA cut huge holes in there lines as they tried to approach our front. Also our tank gunners and ATG never seemed to miss with every shot. I believe one 37MM SP ATG took out 5 tanks by hisself. They never really had a chance as they tried to cross the open field in front of us.

Our orders are to pull back and maybe make an assault on the fortress Tobruk next month. This has not been confirmed but it sure looks like it will happen soon. I know when it does it will not be an easy task to accomplish and thats for dam sure. They have had quite some time to reinforce and dig in. We understand they have even gone so far as to dig some caves into the side of the hills.

Maybe after next month we will get to go home for awhile and this dam war will be over. I understand that we are not doing too well on the eastern front against the Red horde. Understand it is always below freezing and our comrads are having as much trouble with the severe weather as they are with the Russkies. It has been very hot here and I really feel for there pridicument in Russia.
