The patch

I recently attempted to download the patch. I was unable to do so, because I apparently lack the right serial number. I tried the CD number on the CD itself, as well as the Order ID number on the CD. Neither worked. If there was another number, I no longer have it.

I sent an email to Matrix describing my problem, and asking how to get access to the patch. The reply I received, from "Daniel," was not helpful. I wrote back to him and said that as I do not have whatever original number I needed, and the credit card I used to buy the game is no longer active (it was lost and I had to replace it), I wished to know if there was another way to get the patch.

This was several days ago, and so far, I have not received a reply. I have to say that I have been in this industry for 15 years, and I have never known a company that made it so hard to just get a patch to one of its products. If "Daniel" would respond to me again, I would tell him I am perfectly happy to mail back the CD and its plastic box, if that would convince Matrix I legitimately purchased this game.

If anybody has any suggestions, I would be happy to read them.

Sincerely,

B.C. Milligan

IIRC, the original CD came in a white paper sleeve. The Game Key was printed on an orange sticker on that sleeve.

I believe there is also a search engine to find your order numbers that is active for at least a year so you should be able to look it up on this site somewhere. Unfortunately I do not recall the procedure so perhaps someone else can help you there.

Finally, I believe the correct number is in your Windows Registry if you have any experience with poking around there.

Hope it helps!

You can find your serial number by searching the registry on your own computer.

My Windows is Danish to the names I am using may not be entirely correct - but here is what to do in Windows (not in GGWaW)
- Click on START (lower buttom corner)
- Click on RUN
- Type in RegEdit
- In the menus select Search
- Search for Matrix Games (check all the search options)
- Below Matrix Games you will find Gary Griegby's World at War
- One of the keys for that is authorized ---- this will show your serial number

Enjoy the patch - and dont forget to write down the serial number in a safe place just in case :)

Thanks, Jan. I was able to successfully download the patch, after finding the key in my registry. Perhaps someone will pass this onto Matrix's customer support people, so they can be a bit more useful to customers.

Sincerely,

Hi Remise,
I´ve got a similar problem right now with GGWAW, I need a serial number to open the patch and I can´t find it. Where should I look for this #?
Thanks for your time,
Christian
